Domain Installation Tasks

Specify Mailroom Structure

  • An EPA Mailbox contains the mailbox's EPA Preference Set and operational logs associated with a domain UserName.
  • Every actively EPA-managed mailbox must have a UserName identical to that of an existing domain mailbox.
  • An EPA mailbox whose UserName is not identical can never be serviced by a domain's MTA.
  • Mailbox Preference Set to be applied to determined by UserName in traffic Envelope's TO: or FROM fields.
  • When Mail Clerk can't find an associated Mailbox ___
    ___ IF Domain Default Preference Set ('DDPS') is defined, it's applied to traffic.
    ___ ELSE Mail Clerk performs no management of the traffic.
  • DDPS ___
    ___ Specified means no domain mailbox is exempted from Mail Clerk management.
    ___ Application is over-ridden only by named Preference Set.
    ___ Absence exempts all mailboxes with no named Preference Set from Mail Clerk management.
    ___ Can not be specified in an ISP-domain where clients lease mailboxes.

Mailroom Construction

  1. Install EPA Software Library
  2. Create EPA's Mailroom FTP account ___
    ___ EPA_Domain_ID = "<domain_name>_<domain suffix>"; e.g., "epamail_com" (lower case only!)
    ___ Account Name = epa_<EPA_Domain_ID> (first 16 or less characters)
    ___ Account Password = EPA@<EPA_Domain_ID>
    ___ Home Directory = 'etc/mail'
  3. Add Account Name to '/etc/ftpchroot'
  4. Copy the 'EPAlib/EPA.initialize' files to the Mailroom Home Directory
    ___ Create directory named 'ini'
    ___ Change directory owner to Account Name
    ___ Copy all files to 'ini'
  5. Download and install the Window Clerk
  6. Using the Window Clerk
    ___ Define the Mailroom Environment
    ___ Create your SysAdmin EPA Mailbox>

Mail Clerk Activation

  1. Define the EPA milter for the system:
    ___ Change the current directory to cf/cf directory.
    ___ Copy your .mc configuration file to the current directory as sendmail.mc.
    ___ Edit the sendmail.mc file and add the following line the FIRST milter definition
    ___ ......" INPUT_MAIL_FILTER(`sample2', `S=local:/var/run/f2.sock) "
    ___ Generate 'sendmail.cf' by entering " sh Build sendmail.cf ".
    ___ Install the sendmail.cf and submit.cf in the '/etc/mail' by entering " sh Build install-cf "
  2. Insert Mail Clerks' system-startup command
  3. Insert Mail Clerks' 'crontab' scheduling table
  4. Re-boot system/b>
